OW type pumps

OW pumps are designed for underground mine drainage. The robust design of the OW pump is suitable for the harsh operating conditions typical of mine drainage.

The pumps are designed to withstand increased external loads and the presence of mechanical and chemical contaminants in mine water. The robust and compact design of OW pumps allows for operation in unfavorable operating conditions. Due to these design features, OW pumps, in addition to their primary use in underground mine drainage, are also used in other industries requiring the pumping of contaminated fluids, such as the steel industry, cement and lime plants, open-pit mines, and steel mills.

Building Parameters

Building & Construction Principles

Multistage Configuration & Orientation

OW pumps are stationary, horizontal multistage pumps. The discharge port is directed vertically upwards, and the suction port can be placed in four positions, i.e. rotated by 90° depending on needs.

Hydraulics, Bearings & Sealing

Closed impellers and vane vanes are used. The axial thrust in the pump is balanced by the disc relief system. Rolling bearings transmitting radial forces are lubricated with grease. The shaft seal may be string, amorphous or mechanical.

Explosion-Hazardous Environment Capability

OW pumps can be used in explosion-hazardous areas as devices group I category M2.

Engineering Advantages

Product Features & Key Highlights

Appropriately Selected Construction Materials

Construction materials for OW pumps are appropriately selected for the pumped liquids. We use cast iron, salt-resistant, wear-resistant and duplex cast steel.

Built for Harsh Mine Drainage

The robust design of the OW pump is suitable for the harsh operating conditions typical of mine drainage with heavy external loads and contaminants.

High Mechanical & Chemical Contaminant Resistance

The pumps are designed to withstand increased external loads and the presence of mechanical and chemical contaminants in mine water.

Cross-Industry Versatility

In addition to underground mine drainage, OW pumps are used in the steel industry, cement and lime plants, open-pit mines, and steel mills requiring contaminated fluid pumping.

Disc Relief Hydraulic Balancing

Automatic disc relief system neutralizes immense axial thrust across heads up to 900 meters for continuous smooth running.

Robust & Compact Geometry

Solid and compact structure allowing reliable operation in narrow underground gallery spaces and harsh pumping stations.

Material Selection

Construction Materials

Construction materials for OW pumps are appropriately selected for the pumped liquids.

Construction materials for OW pumps are selected depending on the pumped liquid. We use cast iron, salt-resistant, wear-resistant and duplex cast steel.

Standard Metallurgy

Cast Iron

Cost-effective, highly durable option for general industrial pumping and mild water handling without heavy corrosive elements.

Metallurgy Grade

Salt-Resistant Cast Steel

Engineered specifically for mine drainage applications with elevated salinity and aggressive chemical ions.

Metallurgy Grade

Wear-Resistant Cast Steel

High-hardness alloy formulated to resist severe hydraulic erosion from suspended quartz, mineral slurry, and abrasive mine solids.

Metallurgy Grade

Duplex Cast Steel

Austenitic-ferritic stainless alloy offering exceptional mechanical strength and maximum resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking.
